Rico Fourie, the son of South African international track superstar, Johan and Marinda Fourie, has made a mark of his own away from the Athletics track. At the age of 31 he has been in the modelling industry for over a decade, also having attended modelling school and other performing arts institutions such as; Riana Van Wyk Music School, Helen O’Grady Drama Academy, the Stellenbosch Academy of Dance and is also being mentored by film and TV actress Mellissa Massyn.
Over the past 11 years, he has modelled for various photographers, designers, campaigns, TV commercials, catalogues, magazines and blogs (Including his own Christian lifestyle blog called “David King”, which was voted part of the top 5 blogs in Cape Town in 2016). He appeared in and on the cover of YOUct magazine in 2012. Rico featured twice on the award-winning wedding blog “Mooi Troues”. Other highlights include being featured in the Hollywood film “The Dark Tower”, The BBC film “The End Game” and TV commercials such as Fruitree, AOK, Fosters Beer and Skinfantastique. He is currently the brand ambassador for the exclusive skincare range “Skinfantastique” and also for several other organizations including: ACDP and ACDP Youth, JAG Bully Proof, Toys for Africa, Twitter Blanket Drive, and is involved with Project Braveheart.
Other media interactions include recent interviews with; CCTV News, SuperSport, Kyknet, Via TV, Roep TV, Spice TV, Bokeh TV, Tygerberg 104fm, CCfm, Mfm, Hashtag Radio and Bush Radio, as well as being featured in The Times, Eikestad News, Cape Argus and many more Social pages.
He is regularly invited to judge talent and beauty pageants.
Rico launched his successful YouTube account filled with pranks, challenges and celebrity guest appearances since 2017.
Rico is also a mental health and anti bullying activist. Both topics that has had an affect on his life and journey to where he is today. He has battled for many years with depression and anxiety, as well as being a victim to bullying. He is very passionate about bringing awareness around mental health and bullying and is always open to share about his journey. In 2019 he was part of the MMM I am campaign that focused on breaking the stereotypes and bringing awareness to being worthy as a human being.
After 10 years in the model and fashion industry, being a model himself, as well as working behind the scenes as a booker and scout for his agency, Rico decided to streamline his industry involvement.
Although he is currently still signed with The MMM Agency as a talent, he is now rather pursuing the acting and film side of the industry. While mentoring a few up and coming talents. He is also currently an ambassador for Skinfantastique skincare, an active member of the ACDP (African Christian Democratic Party), a mental health advocate and busy working towards becoming a teacher in his spare time (doing his practical at Cloetisville Primary in Stellenbosch). Some of his other passions are photography and videography.
