Madre grew up in Bloemfontein as an only child. From the early age of three she started singing and performing at her little school of arts. She was always portraying some kind of character throughout her nursery years either by singing or performing nursery rhymes and entertaining her friends.
During her school years she attended ballet school and also did an internationally acclaimed modelling course under Matty Reed and Anneline Victor.
She did Ballroom Dancing, Streetdance and Hip Hop. In her high school years she took Drama as one of her major subjects and this opened up a whole new world to her. She participated in various Eisteddfod competitions.
She was always known as the “entertainer” of her class and sang in the school choir most of her school years. In Grade 11 she won the award of Miss Personality.
After Matric she enrolled for BA Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of the Freestate. The following years Madre performed various lead and head rolls. She was seen on stage across the country such as KKNK, Grahamstown Arts Festival, Aardklop, Sand du Plessis, Odeion, Wynand Mouton Theatre as well as Artscape. She also toured as a cabaret singer/performer.
Madre's singing career really got momentum in her first year as a university student where she flourished in this department. She got elected as the vocalist for the Noel Stockton Jazz Ensemble.
At the age of 20 the director David Mathieson chose her as the understudy for Evita Peron. She was understudy for Eva Peron and in the normal cast when not performing as Eva Peron. She did this production in the Sand du Plessis Theatre as well as Artscape for the millennium celebrations in Cape Town.
After years of extensive travels and working as an actress and singer she left the industry when she got engaged.
Over a period of 10 years she stayed active as a solo vocalist and performing with choirs as guest artist and musicals such as Tapas under director Melanie Scholtz. She worked sang and played with MD Jeremy Scott Quickfall in various pieces.
Entertainment is in Madre’s blood. Whether it be acting on stage, singing or in front of the cameras. She wants to portray and get the story told...... It’s all about the meaning behind the words.
Theatre. Film. Musical theatre. Solo singing. Dancing. Bring it on!
