Daniela Alves is currently studying Theatre and Performance at UCT and is in her third year. Her passion for acting began in grade 9 and acting in high school productions is what led her to studying Theatre and Performance.
Since starting at UCT she has performed in “I Made You” directed by Roland Du Preez (2019) as a robot/android, in “Terminated” directed by Roxanne de Freitas (2019) as a woman who witnesses a young boy sexually assault a young girl, “Boudica” directed by Clare Stopford (2019) as a warrior woman and “Cling” directed by Natalie Fraser (2019) which was a physical performance piece. 2019 was a big year for her, in terms of performance, the year before that she performed in smaller plays. 2019 was also the year that she began acting on-screen. She performed in a student film called “Emerald Dawn” directed by Zachery Lord-Rule and in a 48HR Film called “Work in Progress” directed by Zeeckolburg Xolisane Khumalo. The different roles she has played, aided by what she has learnt at UCT so far, have allowed her to develop a relatively wide range of acting skills.
