Nwabisa Mbambo is a natural-born actress and an aspiring director and producer in The world of film and theatre. Mbambo is also a scriptwriter, song writer and a performer.
Mbambo was born in Lamontville, south of Durban in Kwa-Zulu-Natal.
Her schooling started at Entuthukweni Primary School in Lamontville and she
Completed her matric at PR Pather Secondary School in Bluff, south of Durban.
After completing school in 2013, she followed her passion, Mbambo enrolled at Durban University of Technology to do a National Diploma in Drama in 2017 and she graduated in 2019. Currently, Mbambo is a co-director of INK Online TV.
In her aspiring acting career Mbambo has featured in The Philosopher’s Stone, a pilot film sponsored by Durban University of Technology.
Mbambo also starred in The Times, produced by the OnYoCampus Initiative and screened at the
International Symposium on Electronic Art 2017. Khetha, a short film directed and produced by Senzekile Qhamakoane’s Lena Production, is Mbambo’s highlight of her career. In this film, Mbambo played a leading role. Khetha featured in Durban International Film Festival. Mbambo recently worked with Mel Production in a short film called Abalele, which was released in July 2020 on YouTube, and has scooped more than 5000 views also got an opportunity to screen at Umgungundlovu Film Festival.
Mbambo’s dedication and excellence in what she does has been well recognised her Alma mater. Durban University of Technology has recognised Mbambo’s talent, through its Courtyard Theatre Awards in the following categories:
Best Supporting Actress in 2017,
Outstanding Performer 2017, and
Best Educational Theatre 2019.
Mbambo has heart for community charity work and youth development. Mbambo has carried a number of charity initiatives. She works closely with St Martins Charity Home and Thubalethu Child-Welfare in Durban, Berea. Mbambo holds annual Charity Days in these centres. These Charity Days include free food parcels distribution and clothing distribution and art activities, such as singing and drama performances and playing fun games.
