Sareez Basson is a professionally trained actor who won the Top Drama Department Student award at the Performing Arts College – PNXGlobal - and received her Licentiate diploma (LTCL) in Performing Arts through Trinity College London (2023).
Her journey in the performing arts gained international recognition when she represented Namibia at the World Championship of Performing Arts (in South Africa) during her primary school years.
She competed in various acting competitions in high school where she received 85% (gold) at the South African Talent Championships and a bronze medal for her performance in Sonde by die bure at the Namibian ATKV- Tienertoneel competition.
Sareez pursued her acting career professionally by undergoing three years of intensive performing arts training at PNXGlobal under the mentorship of esteemed industry figures, Esther Von Waltsleben and Francois Toerien. Graduating with distinction and earning a grade of 82%, she solidified her foundation.
Her role as Hendrik Hideoso in Janice Honeyman’s Jack and the Beanstalk- A Giant Pantomime Spectacular, directed by Francois Toerien and staged at Playhouse Theatre in Somerset West, provided her with a platform to showcase her talent as a stage actor.
Sareez’s dedication and talent were acknowledged by Francois Toerien, stating, “I have no doubt that you will succeed as a professional actress. I will definitely recommend you if appropriate projects cross my path.”
Venturing into the realm of film, Sareez took on lead roles in various short films for Film School Africa. Further refining her craft, she worked as the stand-in for Natalie Dormer in the upcoming television series White Lies.
